Key specifications include the drive type, load capacity, roller diameter and material, and the axle center dimension, as well as the power requirements. Powered roller conveyors are used primarily in material handling applications that require powered conveyance of the product.

Various drive types include belts, chains/sprockets, and motorized rollers. Many applications of powered roller conveyors include food handling, steel making, packaging, etc.
